from virginia beach. >> reporter: we're here where they're still plucking people out of the water from hurricane danielle and the rip currents and waves that that storm generated. hurricane watches are posted for this area and evacuations in some areas under way already. we'll have the latest forecast track on hurricane earl and the most news in the morning continues. >>> welcome back to the most news in the morning. storm preparations are under way right now all along the east coast with hurricane earl fast approaching. earl is passing near the turks and caicos islands this morning. it's just been downgraded to a category 3 hurricane with 125-mile-an-hour winds. still pretty fast. >> oh, yeah. north carolina is on notice because of earl. authorities have ordered tourists and people living there to leave the barrier islands. one of them is accessible only by ferry. also cape look outnational seashore. earl is on track to brush by the carolina coast by tomorrow night and the hurricane watch is up along the outer banks as well. >> fema is urging people to stock up on supplies and have an

of my screen is virginia. so almost all of i-95 south of virginia would be filled up by the size of this hurricane, category 2, so it's 110 miles per hour. it was bigger than that yesterday. but still, that's still a dangerous storm. hurricane hunter aircraft still flying through the storm right now. it will continue to turn to the right. it will make a run at narangaset. will make a run at nantucket, cape cod. that will be tomorrow night at this time. right now, it's going to do a glancing blow at north carolina. what does glancing really mean? it means that we're going to pile up water along these outer banks and in many spots push that water over the top of those islands. and that could cut the islands in half. happens all the time. it also means they'll probably be water completely over all of those outer banks. that's why they evacuated those islands. that's why they did it yesterday, even though some people got in traffic jams today. larry. >> and it's only september 2nd. and september could be the worst. chad myer, always atop the scene. chad myers, our weather expert. as

and virginia and the outer band still off the coast and it's going to be making its way in as we go into the overnight hours. and we are also going to be seeing a cold front. yes, that's what you are seeing. a cold front is going to be push in. a cold front and hurricane earl. here's the wider view i wanted to show you. you can see that eye and boy, that eye is really getting it act together. the storm getting its act together. this will start to weaken a little bit as it starts to move closer to us. but the bad news is, it is still going to be a major hurricane. it is a category 4. the forward movement is north, northwest at 16 miles an hour. it's 633 miles away west, southwest of bermuda. we are looking at that. but also check out what's happening. so it gets to ocean city, like i said, it will encounter some sheer. it will weaken it and also run into cooler water and that weakens it as well. forecast at 115 miles an hour. that's still a category 3. then it's going to get out of here, head into the north. and then we are going to be looking much better as we go into the weekend. h
